1 The Web Designer’s Idea Book, Vol. 2
The Web Designer’s Idea Book is a great book to have at your side, no matter what kind of project you are working. Although it does not cover CSS directly it still makes The Best CSS Books list because it has great inspiration to help you on your next project. The volume 2 version of this book boasts 650 new websites with highly trending designs. Sites are categorized by type, design element, styles and themes, structural styles, and structural elements. I use this book not only for brainstorming but more importantly to hand to clients to help them put their design idea into words by simple pointing to one of the websites in this book.
This is a great css and web design book, and should be in any web designer’s book arsenal! A great communication tool!
2 The Book of CSS3
The Book of CSS3 should be in any great collection of css books. This book covers all of the great new features of CSS3 and covers them extremely well. From selectors to transformations, you got it covered in The Book of CSS3! This book is great as a guide and documentation for anyone looking to gain an edge on their CSS knowledge. Novice web designers should look to this book to build a better foundation of their CSS knowledge, and this is why this book is part of The Best CSS Books collection!
3 Above the Fold
Above the Fold is a great addition to your css book collection. Above the fold takes many great design principles such as scale, typography, and animation and puts them into a web design context. This is a great book for advanced web designers looking to add a little more oomph into their web design and draw eyes to your call to action while keeping the important stuff above the fold! Above the Fold even goes on to cover how to design for Search Engine Optimization.
If you have designed quite a few websites, and are looking to increase your technique, then add Above the Fold to your Best CSS Books collection!
4 The Web Designer’s Idea Book, Vol. 1
The first volume of The Web Designer’s Idea Book is just as great as the second volume that I covered early but covers, in my opinion, lesser important categories of web sites. Covering over 700 different websites categorized by style, layout, and color. This is a great addition to your collection if you have many requests for designing in odd colors or atypical layouts. Have clients looking to have a website designed in pink or purple, or a website that scrolls horizontally? The Web Designer’s Idea Book covers these and more and gives you successful websites of each!
These are what I consider to be the most important css books, and if you do not have them today you should pick this up today so that you always have the best css books at hand at all times! These books will help you out no matter what level of CSS knowledge or web design knowledge you have. These books have helped me out immensely, both when designing web sites and especially when at client meetings. What are you waiting for? Pick these amazing web design books up today!
